A Republican state representative in Michigan was rebuked by members of his own party on Monday hours after he made comments suggesting that he and others planned to disrupt the Electoral College vote at the state Capitol in Lansing.
The top Republicans in the Michigan legislature announced that they had removed state Rep. Gary Eisen (R) from his committee assignments.
The move came hours after a radio interview in which Eisen did not specify what the plans to disrupt the Electoral College entailed, but said that “it’ll be all over the news later on.”

LANSING, MI Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said a state lawmaker’s comments about preventing Democratic electors from casting their votes for Joe Biden are “unpatriotic” and “downright dangerous.”
State Rep. Gary Eisen, R-St. Clair Township, was stripped of his committee assignments after discussing plans to gain entry into the Capitol building amid threats of violence surrounding the vote of Michigan electors Monday. In a statement emailed to reporters Monday afternoon, Eisen said he regrets the “confusion” over his comments and said he no longer plans to be at the Capitol while the electors meet.
