Framework prepared by staff to allow the Friends of the Cull Drain Bridge to complete restoration work has been accepted by council.
The group plans to restore the four end posts as a way to “kick off” their fundraising efforts to fully restore the bridge.
The span has been sitting in Mike Weir Park with a fence around it since it was removed in 2014.
It’s hoped $25,000 can be raised for phase one of the restoration.

The first – a $1.9-million contract to Cope Construction for seven stretches of road – was coming to city council Monday and, if approved, work was expected to start mid-May and wrap up by the end of August, Williams said.
The remaining $1 million or so worth of work out for tender is expected to start in July and finish around the end of September, he said.
