force musk to complete the acquisition. the drama is far from over. musk responding to the claims he is trying to unjustly exit the deal. cnn s chief media correspondent and reliable sources anchor brian stelter is here with us now. good morning, brian. tell us more about what elon mo musk is saying. he s saying he s trying to back out of this deal, get out of the company he agreed to buy because the company is the platform, twitter, is overrun with spam bots. and with the kind of junk that nobody would want to own. this is a fascinating situation, though, because musk already agreed to buy twitter months ago. this was a major event, where he agreed to pay $44 billion and pay a huge premium for the stock in order to take twitter private. it is kind of like somebody agreeing to buy a house, was waiting for the deal to close, waiting to get the keys and in the meantime, looked around the garden and said this garden, there are too many weeds here, this is gross, i don t want to
uncertainty. musk says he s trying to back out of the seal citing the lack of information coming from twitter about the number of fake account and spam bots. his attorneys would like to see it thrown all altogether but they argue they need more time. they d like to see the trial happening later in the winter. the decision will ultimately rest with a judge in a small court in delaware that is dedicated to these major business disputes. it won t likely come today but it should be soon as twitter is argument that sometime of the essence. either way, the stakes very high. a win for musk could look like a billion dollar breakup fee, but that s small given a lawsuit to follow through with the deal which was struck at $54.20 a share. it s interesting to see this play out in court rather than twitter. i think it will play out both places. we ll wait to see, alex, thank you so much. there s also fierce backlash
