THE completion of a large-scale resurfacing scheme in Settle and Giggleswick means residents can now have a peaceful night’s sleep. Station Road, which runs from Settle to Giggleswick, and also Kirkgate in Settle are well-used by HGVs on their way to Sowarth Industrial Estate. The roads had become badly pot-holed, and as lorries smashed into the holes at night, the noise could wake nearby residents. Both roads have been resurfaced using a coating that generates less traffic noise for residents, says North Yorkshire County Council
