The new district judge in Carlsbad will be a familiar face to those of you who worked with the City of Carlsbad. On Dec. 11, Eileen Riordan was selected as the new district judge by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to represent the Fifth Judicial District out of the Eddy County Courthouse. Riordan retired from the City of Carlsbad on Dec. 31, 2021, and has now assumed the responsibility as a district judge. We appreciate former Judge Raymond Romero’s service to this community. Numerous excellent local candidates expressed interest in this appointment.
Judge Riordan is highly qualified and will do a great job in her new position. She holds a J.D. from the University of New Mexico, class of 1990 and became City Attorney for the City of Carlsbad on Aug. 1, 1995.
