The Southington Conservation Land Trust announces the naming and dedication on May 12, at 6:30 pm of The Neil Picone Wildlife Preserve on the basalt rock mountain-side in the eastern side of town. Neil Picone is the son of Mr. and Mrs Peter Picone of Southington. Neil died unexpectedly at age 31 on May 20, 2020 and was an avid outdoorsman, habitat manager, craftsman, artisan and loved creating wood products from Connecticut native wood.

The Neil Picone Wildlife Preserve is comprised of 6.5 acres of unique mountain-side hardwood forest habitat on basalt bedrock. The preserve is continuous with hundreds of acres of protected Hubbard Park land. The dedication ceremony will take place at 157 Meriden Waterbury Road by invitation only.
