Central New York in the Deep Freeze With Wind Chill Advisory
If COVID-19 isn t enough to make you wear a mash, bitterly cold wind chills may do the trick. The National Weather Service has a Wind Chill Advisory in place starting at 10 tonight, (1/28), until 11 tomorrow morning. And why not add some Lake Effect Snow Showers too.

Travel could be tricky in central and upstate New York. The National Weather Service has issued weather advisories and Lake Effect Snow warnings for a storm that could bring snow squalls with near white out conditions.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1pm Friday through 1pm Saturday for Southern Cayuga, Onondaga, Madison and Southern Oneida counties.
Lake effect snow will be in Northern Oneida County until this afternoon. The snow then shifts further south across much of Central New York Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. However, On Friday: scattered snow squalls may stretch all the way down as far south as the Twin Tiers. Within a snow squall, total snow may only be about an inch or even less, but it can come very quickly with near white-out conditions.

Gail doesn t sound fierce enough for the winter storm that has buried the northeast. Over two feet of snow has fallen in parts of Pennsylvania and New York, and it s still coming down.
There s anywhere from one to 3 feet of snow, depending on what part of New York State you live in.

The warning until 10 this morning is for Southern Oneida and Madison counties and includes the cities of Hamilton, Oneida, Rome, and Utica. Total accumulation will be near 12 inches in many areas, with 1 to 2 inches of snowfall per hour.
Travel will remain very difficult during this time. Motorists are urged not to travel, but if you must travel, be prepared for snow covered roads and near zero visibilities.
