Fundraiser donors support meals for local distribution May 10, 2021 Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding volunteers are grateful to be able to share the goodwill and support the organization receives from its neighbors in Sussex County. As part of the grilled hot dog drive-through fundraiser held May 1 at its Harbeson Road farm in Milton, the group was able to spread the generosity of its supporters throughout the local community. For the price of their tickets, fundraiser attendees got a grilled hot dog, drink and dessert plus entry to the raffle for a Blackstone gas grill donated by Bests’ Ace Hardware. Sponsors of the event included Linda Berdine, Kimberly Distilli, Performance Food Services, Bests’ Ace Hardware, Atlantic Liquors, Casapulla’s Subs, McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A restaurants in Rehoboth, the Elmer family, and the Peden family. The Giving Never Tasted So Good fundraising program will begin Thursday, April 8, with a dine-in or takeout fundraiser at Big Fish Grill. By joining forces with local eateries, SDTR is seeking to create a win/win/win situation for Delaware restaurants, area residents and itself. The campaign will help promote a different dining establishment monthly, and that month’s partner will contribute a portion of proceeds to SDTR. SUBMITTED PHOTO Seaside Church in Lewes recently donated $1,500 to the Sussex Consortium for its therapeutic horseback riding program that takes place at Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding in Milton. “Our high school-aged students are given the opportunity to ride horses at Southern Delaware Therapeutic with permission from their parents/guardians,” said Pam Graves, vocational coordinator at the Sussex Consortium. “Prior to COVID-19 in the 2019-20 school year, we had 23 students who participated, with two students going twice a week on a rotating schedule. Because of COVID, we have not been able to go to the farm this year, but I know our students are really looking forward to going back.”
