OVERVIEW Southern Company is a holding company that owns all of the common stock of three traditional electric operating companies (Alabama Power, Georgia Power, and Mississippi Power), as well as Southern Power and Southern Company Gas, and owns other direct and indirect subsidiaries. The primary businesses of the Southern Company system are electricity sales by the traditional electric operating companies and Southern Power and the distribution of natural gas by Southern Company Gas. Southern Company s reportable segments are the sale of electricity by the traditional electric operating companies, the sale of electricity in the competitive wholesale market by Southern Power, and the sale of natural gas and other complementary products and services by Southern Company Gas. Southern Company increases dividend for 20th consecutive year; annualized rate rises to $2 64 per share

Share this article Share this article ATLANTA, April 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Southern Company announced today it is increasing its dividend by 8 cents per share on an annualized basis to a rate of $2.64 per share. This marks the 20 th consecutive year that Southern Company has raised the dividend on its common stock. Southern Company also announced today a regular quarterly dividend – including the increase of 2 cents per share over the prior quarter – of 66 cents per share, payable June 7, 2021, to shareholders of record as of May 17, 2021. Today s action by the board ensures Southern Company will have paid a dividend to its shareholders that is equal to or greater than the previous quarter every quarter dating back to 1948.

The intermediate 2030 goal is part of the system s target to achieve net zero GHG emissions by 2050. While emissions reductions may fluctuate around 50 percent the next few years depending on demand, weather and other factors, the system expects to sustainably achieve 50% reduction or greater by 2025, if not sooner.
