Easton police sergeant retires after two decades with Easton
EASTON – Sgt. Carolyn Gurney retired from the Easton Police Department after a 23-year career this month.
On February 9, 1998 Gurney began her career with the Easton Police Department. The morning of July 7, she completed her final shift and is headed into retirement.
Over these past 23 years, Gurney has worn many hats inside the department. After working as a patrol officer on the evening shift, she was assigned to Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School as the school resource officer.
In October 2015 she became the first female officer promoted to the rank of sergeant in the Town of Easton. Following that promotion, she served as a patrol sergeant and as detective sergeant.
EASTON For more than 50 years, Southeastern Regional has been a vocational learning school serving the Greater Brockton area, providing STEM education and training to students.
Thanks to the popularity of the video and performing arts program, the school is now looking to become a STEAM school with the A signifying arts.
Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School is currently constructing a new performing arts center scheduled to be complete by Nov. 1, 2021.
Brockton officials, Southeastern school committee members, town officials from the nine communities that Southeastern serves and state officials joined Southeastern Superintendent Luis Lopes and students at the Easton campus on Wednesday to sign one of the construction beams before it was placed into construction.
