week or so. the forecast this weekend remains to have more of a southeasterly flow to the winds and generally calm winds. we re still monitoring changes. the winds will start to turn, eventually become more southerly, and as we go toward tuesday to wednesday become more southwesterly. our concern for the oil spill would be to move further to the east towards alabama and maybe the panhandle of florida. right now it s still very uncertain, but i can tell you we are seeing some more spreading a little bit when we look at the winds and the force of the weather in terms of the gulf. we are seeing thunderstorms in the area. never a good sign because that does sort of hamper some of the efforts they re doing offshore right now since some of the storms are pretty powerful in louisiana right now. kate, jim? there s a lot going on with the weather today. thank you, bonnie. bonnie, you are earning your keep today. keeping track of it all. i can t. turning now to one of our cnn heroes. thi

moving. the winds changed the shape and size of the slick. there it is. it looks like it is at least staying in one position because the winds coming in different directions and then as the animation loops, you see it come closer to the mouth of mississippi, down through southern louisiana. that s because there s been more of a southeasterly flow. i like to say this is going to change. one thing to note, the winds will be calm over the weekend. however, as we go into monday and tuesday, we are lookinging at a change in the winds. it looks at this point coming out of the southwest and poses more of a threat for areas further off to the east in the gulf coast so some changing conditions but things are stationa stationary. we are looking at strong thunderstorms through austin and san antonio. this is no change from yesterday, same places seeing the rain are still seeing it now. notice the southern parishes getting hammered, as well. looking at the big picture now, watching out for an area
