harris? harris: elizabeth prann, thank you very much. i want to go back to maria molina briefly to kind of give us the picture on the map at the fox extreme weather center of how the storm is really working cause we were just in new orleans. now you compare that to mississippi and clearly they re getting hit a little bit worse than the city of new orleans. what s happening with the storm? that s right. the earlier in the hour we pointed out that there is dry air over texas because of the drought and that s working eastward into the storm system. so the heavier precipitation is across the eastern half of the storm. we know the center is just to the south of the coast of louisiana. so you can look here on water vapor, all of that batch of moisture really across the eastern half of the storm system. so you re feeling its effects in the florida panhandle, west of destin, through the coast of mississippi, alabama, and also across extreme portions of louisiana. but safe to say the worst
of panama city. but the main one i hope this is in play. regardless, i tell you what, let s get back to this. the main one is into parts of of southeast mississippi and through alabama, and now we ve got a tornado warning that s been posted for that includes mobile proper, so mobile and baldwin counties you could be under the gun as far as not only possible tornado, but this bow echo right here, that indicates strong wind. we ve had wind damage across new orleans, wind gusts of 77 miles an hour. at least 15,000 people without power. one tornado touched down north of i-12 in southeast louisiana. this is all part of the same complex that s moving into this area. so, if you live in mobile, you re feeling it right now, so just take cover and wait this thing out until it goes through. next stop is going to be pensacola and points off east. the other issue with this, kate, is the tremendous amount of rain with this. flash flood watches are posted for a good chunk of the eastern third o
authorities are working to analyze and enhance that surveillance video. alex perez, abc news, chicago. it may not be much of a christmas in parts of the deep south today after at least six tornadoes swept through this holiday. it will be spent cleaning up. hardest hit was southeast mississippi where four people were killed and dozens others injured. others lost everything they own, including their christmas presents. many people are still without power at this hour. and strong winds also did damage in central ohio. they ripped the roof off a storage unit building and overturned dozens of cars in a parking lot. it happened very quickly. luckily, there weren t many people inside the cars. they were all in the shopping mall at the time, either shopping for last-minute presents or watching a movie. there were no injuries reported. slightly more stable today, here s a look at your weather. windy in the northeast and mid-atlantic. morning showers in new england
