Michigan man pleads guilty to producing child pornography

CANTON, MI – A Michigan man pleaded guilty this week in a federal case involving the production of child pornography.
Defendant Shailesh Patel, 53, of Canton, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge George Caram Steeh on Wednesday to one count of sexual exploitation of children, Acting U.S. Attorney Saima Mohsin announced in a news release. He will be sentenced on July 20.
Patel previously pleaded guilty to several counts of criminal sexual conduct of varying degrees in a Wayne County case, the release said. The two cases have a victim in common. The victims in both cases were abused over a period of years, beginning when they were children; they are now adults.
