A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Kelly Marie Tran made history as the first Asian American to play a major character in a “Star Wars” film.
Four years later, the “Last Jedi” actor received a touching tribute from a young poet and fan inspired by Tran’s trailblazing work onscreen. Right before May 4, the unofficial “Star Wars” holiday, MJ Park read her poem aloud and brought Tran to tears in a heartwarming clip released Monday exclusively to Entertainment Weekly.
During the video conference, director Carlos López Estrada surprised Park and other poets who worked on his upcoming film, “Summertime,” by bringing Tran on as an executive producer.
Facing a global pandemic in the midst of a chaotic year shocked the MU student body in ways they have never experienced before. A mysterious virus with fatal risks rapidly spreading created a standstill in the world. Promising projects were placed on hold. Events and gatherings were placed on hold.
