Safe Haven Receives Bedding from Upper Room Thrift Shop

SOUTHBURY — Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury announced that they have received a large donation of bedding items to be used at Peggy’s Place, Safe Haven’s domestic violence shelter. The Upper Room Thrift Shop is the outreach arm of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany on Main Street North in Southbury. Dorrie Johnson, the manager of the shop and her group of volunteers, chose Safe Haven as the recipient of this donation in fulfillment of their mission to help brothers and sisters in need. The donation consisted of brand new sheet sets, blankets, mattress pads, pillows and comforters. “The size of this donation is just amazing!” said Lee Schlesinger, executive director of Safe Haven. He added, “The bedding will be used at Peggy’s Place, and there is so much that we will be able to give fresh, brand new bedding to clients as they move out of the shelter back into the community.”
