A subsidiary of UK-based Australis Energy has submitted plans to the Western Australia Environmental Protection Authority for an up to 300MW offshore wind farm off the coast of the Australian state.
WA Offshore Windfarm is proposing a project that would be located approximately 5.5km off the coast between Preston Beach and Myalup.
It would feature 20 to 37 turbines with individual capacity between 8MW and 15MW.
Electricity generated would be fed into the Western Australia electricity grid within the South West Interconnector System using both subsea and overhead transmission cables.
Australis Energy is also planning to develop two further projects in Australia off the coasts of South Australia and Victoria.
