and the thing it s been doing for quite some time is pushing up about a four to six-foot surge throughout the new jersey coastline. but here s a little bit of good news, the storm kind of repositions itself, we re starting to see some winds back out offshore. in some cases near atlantic city. so that s helping out a little bit for some of the coastal regions. now in terms of the storm surge issue, it s still this window up until about 9:00 a.m. with high tide, astro nf astronomically h. al roker and other correspondents along long island, it s a critical situation we re watching in terms of how much water will rush up out ahead of the center of the storm system. and here in new york city, that s where the storm surge could be anywhere upwards of six feet. we ve heard from the national hurricane center that there have been reports in new york harbor of four-foot surge already in the water. and now we re starting to see the high tide coming our way.
