Server at Florida restaurant gets $2,020 tip

Dec. 31 (UPI) A group of customers at a Florida restaurant made sure one server will have a happy new year by leaving a $2,020 tip just before the holiday.
The Masala Mantra Indian Bistro in Cape Coral shared a photo to Facebook showing the receipt from a group of customers who left a $2,020 tip for a server named Dawn after racking up a $269.51 tab.

The big tip came about a week after South Shore Pizza in Ruskin, Fla., shared the story of a customer who left a $2,020 tip. The customer asked for the tip to be split among the eatery s employees, meaning each worker received about $80.
The customer may have been inspired by the #2020TipChallenge, an online campaign that encourages people to be generous toward those working in the service industry in this challenging year.

RUSKIN, Fla. â Tampa Bay area businesses have adjusted and adapted during the COVID-19 crisis to meet the needs of their customers. One generous customer decided to leave behind a big tip at a restaurant in Ruskin, which impacted every single employee.
âKnowing everything thatâs gone on with the pandemic, it really was a good feeling that thereâs still some good in the world that they would go out of their way [to] choose our establishment to do the challenge,â said manager Robert Godfrey.
