QUINCY Quincy police arrested eight people and seized 18 kilograms of cocaine following five raids Monday as part of an investigation into a drug operation on the South Shore.
Quincy police said in a statement on Facebook that the month-long investigation resulted in four raids in Quincy on Monday and one in Weymouth, where police seized 18 kilograms of drugs, nearly 40 pounds.
Police said the $384,000 in cash, 11 pounds of marijuana, four semi-automatic pistols and one possibly automatic pistol with a silencer attached, which they referred to as a possible machine gun, were also seized.
Eight people were arrested on a variety of charges. Those charges included trafficking in over 200 grams of cocaine, trafficking in over 200 grams of fentanyl, possession of a machine gun, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession with intent to distribute a class B substance, use of a firearm in a felony, possessing a firearm without a firearm
