Danny weakens to Tropical Depression after making landfall on South Carolina coast

TAMPA, Fla. - Tropical Storm Danny weakened to a Tropical Depression but continued to dump heavy rain over parts of Georgia and South Carolina Monday evening.
Danny began Monday as Tropical Depression Four and strengthened into Tropical Storm Danny just before making landfall around 8 p.m.
An Air Force Hurricane Hunter plane found winds of 40 mph as the storm was about 45 miles southeast of Charleston, South Carolina. As it moved over land, it produced a large area of showers and thunderstorms west of its exposed center of circulation.
