South River residents warned of phone scams related to PSE&G bill payment
The South River Police Department is urging residents to be alert to phone scams demanding immediate Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) bill payments via pre-paid cards.
Over the past few days, there has been an increase in the number of phone scams being reported, according to information provided by police on Jan. 23. As per the reported incidents, residents are receiving phone calls from an individual pretending to be a PSE&G employee. The individual then requests immediate payment via a pre-paid card or their utility service will be shut off.

South River COVID-19 update
SOUTH RIVER–The South River Police Department has been notified by the Middlesex County Health Department that 826 total residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since its onset.
Officials have been informed that 13 residents have passed away from COVID-19 since March, according to a statement released on Dec. 22.
