WINNIPEG Winnipeg police said officers were called to multiple shootings and stabbings overnight. The first of the incidents happened on Sunday around 8:34 p.m. when officers were called to the 700 block of Corydon Avenue for a report that gunshots were heard behind a convenience store. Police said a man in his 20s went to a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds. On Sunday night, CTV News Winnipeg spotted six police cruisers outside of a convenience store, located at Corydon and Arbuthnot Street. Officers had also blocked off the parking lot with police tape. About two hours later, police were called to a shelter in the South Point Douglas area. A woman in her 40s had been stabbed and was taken to hospital in unstable condition.

Advocates, outreach workers and a provincial politician are calling for more permanent solutions to homelessness in Winnipeg, after someone living in a homeless encampment died in a fire Tuesday morning. It s very unfortunate to see this happen, said Serge Uwimana, who worked with people living at the encampment near Higgins Avenue as a member of the outreach team at Resource Assistance for Youth Inc., a Winnipeg non-profit working with street-entrenched and homeless youth. People can t stay in the cold when it s -40. You re going to have a fire because you want to stay warm, and things are going to happen, said Uwimana.

No one was hurt after a Winnipeg woman brought a weapon to a Winnipeg shelter early Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday morning a 41-year-old woman entered a shelter in the South Point Douglas area. When inside, she produced a weapon.
Arriving at 5:07 a.m., officers found the suspect nearby, taking her safely into custody. The weapon was later recovered. It was a revolver-style pellet gun.
The 41-year-old is now facing the following charges:
