Update, December 29: At 4:19 pm, Austin Police issued an alert confirming the death of 21-year-old Miranda Gloria Lopez, who passed away on December 29. APD said they do not have a vehicle description and cautioned that the investigation is still ongoing. - Austin Police are asking for help after a road rage incident left a local woman in critical condition.
Her family has started a GoFundMe to raise money for medical, memorial and reward money expenses.
Detectives began their investigation and learned that the shooting took place in the area of Todd Lane and South Pleasant Valley Road at approximately 7 p.m. on Dec. 26, APD said. Police said the motive and circumstances of the incident are still being determined. According to APD, detectives do not believe the victim knew the shooter(s).
The APD said Wednesday they believe the suspect vehicle may have been a dark-colored sedan that was last seen driving westbound on East St. Elmo possibly without its headlights on.
WINCHESTERÂ â Following a few design tweaks, a proposed apartment building intended to house Shenandoah University students and young professionals is back on the table for City Council s consideration.
As proposed, The Local at 1551 S. Pleasant Valley Road would include 198 one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments within a single four-story building, plus two small buildings that would be leased for commercial use. The complex would be built on a 6.23-acre parcel of vacant land adjacent to the former Fresh Market grocery store at 1671 S. Pleasant Valley Road.
Since the proposed apartments are within walking distance of SU, property owner Jay Donegan of Reston anticipates that up to 80% of the more than 400 residents of the 258,000-square-foot complex would be college students. The remaining apartments would be marketed to young professionals.
