A cold snap threatened Florida this weekend as the Northeast braced for a blizzard. With sub-freezing temperatures predicted, residents were warned to protect pipes and pets, and watch out for falling iguanas.
The coldest period will be Saturday night and Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The Everglades and western areas of Palm Beach County, which are farthest from the moderating effect of the ocean, could see temperatures fall to 32 degrees or below.
