WELLSVILLE The Buckeye Water District is hiring a local contractor on retainer to perform emergency repairs as needed to the waterline that will provide raw water to the South Field Energy electric plant being built north of town in Yellow Creek Township.
The BWD board on Thursday entered into a contract with Mike Pusateri Excavating of St. Clair Township to be on call around the clock to respond within several hours in the event of a waterline problem that disrupts service. The company will be paid $1,600 per month.
The natural gas-powered electric plant under construction will need millions of gallons of water to operate, and South Field contracted with the BWD to be the supplier. As part of the deal, the BWD agreed to build a separate reservoir to serve the plant, which is next to the existing reservoir that supplies water to BWD customers. The BWD water treatment plant complex and South Field property are adjacent to each other.
