Stress that there are no Credible Threats related to the they want everyone to be cautious and keep an eye out for anything suspicious. The california Highway Patrol said his holiday maximum enforcement period will start tonight at 6 00 and will last until new years morning. Chp officers will not only be looking for drunk drivers but also speeders and anyone not wearing a seatbelt. During the christmas enforcement period, chp made more than 900 arrests. 144 of those were here in the bay area. The Highway Patrol said 27 people died on california roadways over that Holiday Weekend and say about half of those killed were not wearing seatbelts. Over thanksgiving, chp said 76 were killed state wide. That includes highways and city streets. They say more than 1000 dui arrests were made. That is up 17 over last year. And the south bay, San Jose Police are investigating a stabbing that left a 17year old dead. P

The Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office says the vehicle was involved in a collision before it caught fire. The sheriff, chp are investigating. Officer andrew cam larry lost his Life Christmas eve when his patrol car was hit by a suspected drunk driver. Nbcs coronal bernard was at att todays memorial. Tell this is still a very active scene. Investigators have been here for hours. The Intern Police chief said this started when a woman drove to the bank to get money outside the atm. She immediately called 911 and officers quickly surrounded the area. Police say the suspect was pacing, acting very agitated and refusing to cooperate. Some of those officers recognized the suspect. In fact theyve known him since he was a child and asked him repeatedly to drop his gun. After a few minutes the suspect instead took a combative stance. He stopped, pointed it at the officers and shot in the Office Officers direction. The officers immediately returned fire. It escalated very quickly. Reporter none of the officers were injured.
