A Chapel Hill property on West Rosemary Street that formerly housed a popular restaurant now has a new owner and new uncertainty about the property’s future.
The site on the 300 block of West Rosemary had been the home of Breadmen’s restaurant until last year. Since 2015, the developer Amity Station LLC had been in negotiations with town officials on plans for a new mixed-use project. Despite numerous conflicts between the sides over issues ranging from building size and height to protecting the nearby Northside neighborhood, those plans were still in the works as of November 2019, when a public information meeting for community members was scheduled to be held.
