A vehicle has gone off the road and into a field in the area of 6355 Cockram Road, Byron. Unknown injuries. Byron and South Byron fire departments dispatched. Multiple brush fires are reported in the woods in the area of 6364 Britt Road, Stafford. Stafford Fire dispatched with mutual aid from South Byron and Le Roy.
A fire is reported in a garage attached to a house at 5968 Bartoff Road, Stafford. There are propane tanks nearby. All occupants out of the structure except for animals. Stafford Fire along with South Byron, Byron, Bergen, City of Batavia, Le Roy, and Town of Batavia dispatched. Mercy EMS also dispatched. UPDATE 3:22 p.m.: City Fire and South Byron are back in service.
Benjamin John Russo, 41, of Rosemary Avenue, Buffalo, is charged with obstructing governmental administration 2nd, speeding, and failure to obey a police officer. Russo is accused of failing to yield for a patrol vehicle's emergency lights on Jan. 10 at 8:53 p.m. on Bloomingdale Road, Tonawanda Indian Reservation, and then, when he did stop, running from the vehicle. Byron and South Byron are on scene of a house fire at 6451 Cockram Road, Byron. The fire was at the back of the residence and reported knocked down at this time. The call began with a report of heavy smoke in the basement. Bergen Fire on standby in its hall. UPDATE 8:53 a.m.: The fire is out. National Grid requested the scene. A code enforcement officer requested to the scene.
