The 49th annual Governor s Conference on Tourism came to a close Tuesday evening with the Henry Awards, where marketing professionals working in the tourism industry from across the state were recognized.
This year was the first time the tourism conference has ever been held in El Dorado, and Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said it was a good opportunity for the city to showcase what it has to offer.
An opening night concert marked the start of the 49th annual Arkansas Governor s Conference on Tourism on Sunday. The El Dorado Municipal Auditorium hosted the event, which featured food, exhibits courtesy of the South Arkansas Arts Center and live painting and drawing demonstrations from 2023 Governor s Arts Award winners in arts education, Jorge Villegas and Maria Botti Villegas. The opening reception was capped by the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra s performance of "The Three Phantoms in Concert." Today is the final day of the AGCT and will conclude with the tourism-focused Henry Awards and a concert by former Gov. Mike Huckabees band.

The annual conference starts today and continues through Tuesday and the selection of El Dorado as the host city marks several firsts in the 49-year history of the statewide event.
