Morocco’s General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) announced last month that the Moroccan authorities have dismantled 207 terrorist cells since 2002.
As for Morocco… it is the Islamists, and not Israel, who have “corrupted the minds of Moroccans, sowed the seeds of discord among them, brought Moroccan education to the brink of bankruptcy and legitimized ignorance.” Ahmed Assid, professor of philosophy and activist, kifache.com, December 15, 2020.
“The rhetoric of hostility and the threat of throwing the Jews into the sea won Israel widespread international sympathy. The Palestinians have missed many opportunities, and they have been chasing the illusions given to them by the [Arab] regimes…” Sa’id Al-Kahal, a secular Moroccan author, hespress.com, January 23, 2020.

Irish carrier Ryanair cites a ’sudden change of policy’ from the Civil Aviation Authority for cancelling 12 UK domestic and non-European Union international routes, although the regulator insists it has a long-standing policy that UK-licensed operators should not heavily rely on wet-leasing foreign-registered aircraft for such services.
Ryanair says the requirements from the CAA – which it says were issued yesterday – makes operation of the routes impossible.

“We are disappointed to have to cancel 12 UK domestic and international [Morocco and Ukraine] routes from London, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Belfast and Derry, because of the CAA’s unexpected policy-shift late last night,” says a Ryanair spokesperson.

Palestinian director Annemarie Jacir’s upcoming TV drama
Mornings In Jenin is among 39 projects to have secured Doha Film Institute (DFI) funding as part of its autumn 2020 grants round.
The drama, which is in development, marks Jacir’s first foray into TV drama after numerous shorts and three features,
Wajib,
Salt Of The Sea.
Based on the eponymous, best-selling novel by Palestinian-American writer and journalist Susan Abulhawa, it is an intergenerational tale, spanning five countries and the intertwining lives of three siblings.
In keeping with the DFI’s mission, 31 of the 39 projects have Arab world connections, with 22 projects hailing from the Middle East and North Africa. Another eight projects at the post-production stage hail from Belgium, Bolivia, China, Ethiopia, France, Iran, Philippines and Sweden respectively.
