Callander council voted in favour Tuesday of seeking replacement options after hearing the existing structure is in excess of 25 years old and has only been maintained as required when individual sections have become worn or wooden sections have succumb to rot.
“Upon arrival on site, the inspector noted that the Municipality of Callander may have one of the few remaining wooden structures still in use, as most municipalities have replaced theirs over the years for liability reasons,” according to a report submitted by Timothy McKenna, the municipality’s manager of operations.
