“We talk a lot in the labour movement about international solidarity and mutual aid. If any of that is real and sincere, we need to act on it now. The Ukrainian left is in a life or death struggle.”
A small group of UK trade unionists, supporters of Workers’ Liberty and the Ukraine Solidarity Campaign, recently took part in a European labour movement solidarity delegation to Ukraine. On 5-6 May they attended a left and labour movement activist conference in Lviv. Tom Harris, a civil service worker and activist in the PCS union, live tweeted the event. The AWL opposes the Russian imperialist war against Ukraine. The Russian state is fighting to annex Ukrainian territory and subordinate Ukraine to Russian political power. We demand the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Russian military from Ukrainian territory, including Donbas and Crimea. We demand the end to the Russian state’s war and the end to threats made to other nations, for example recently against Finland.
