Notes about local and regional students Written By: The Globe | District 518 booster announce scholarship winners WORTHINGTON The Worthington ISD 518 Sports Boosters Club is proud to support young student athletes in pursuing the combination of collegiate athletic and academic pursuits. All student athletes who have secured future athletic participation on the collegiate level are eligible to apply regardless of the sport(s) they participate in. The club is extending two $500 scholarships to senior student athletes who exemplify effort, dedication, commitment and spirit to their team, school and community. This year’s winners are Maranda Thier, daughter of Mark and Maria, and Sophie Wietzema, daughter of Troy and Angela.

Schools temporarily shuttered, Career Development Events were put on hold and ultimately, the 2020 Minnesota FFA Convention’s array of contests were cancelled. It was a disappointing end to what could have been perhaps should have been a promising year for FFA members looking to earn their way back to state competition.
