Rye, Ossining schools report low numbers opting-in for state tests

Rye and Ossining asked students to opt-in for state testing. Very few students did. New Rochelle surprised district officials when a larger than expected number of parents opted for their children to take the test. Rockland/Westchester Journal News In Ossining, the number was lowest of all: only 105 students out of more than 2,000 in grades 3-8. The number of Westchester students in grades three to eight who are taking state assessment tests this week in New York is at a record low in some districts.  In Ossining, about 5% of eligible students are taking the tests. In Rye, about 23% of grade 3-8 students opted to take them.
