With pupils in need of accessible outdoor space to enjoy their education to the full, one school is raising funds to provide exactly that. Youngsters at James Rennie School, Carlisle, are in desperate need of a safe, fun and inclusive playground for all to use and enjoy. The all-age school supports pupils from ages three-19, who have severe and profound learning needs. And with the playground currently being a simple tarmac slab, staff are determined to provide their pupils with the best learning experience possible – by raising £65,000 for an accessible outdoor space. “The pupils at the moment don t have an accessible playground area, which is vitally important for them to have, school staff member, Sophie Dowling, said.
