CHICAGO, March 15 (Xinhua) Asian Pop-Up Cinema s Season 12 film festival is scheduled to kick off in U.S. city of Chicago Monday night.
The opening night will feature The Town of Headcounts, a Japanese thriller directed by Shinji Araki. Channeling sci-fi dystopian classics, the film is a politically astute allegory of Japanese society, surveillance, election interference and terrorism.
This season will screen more than 33 films, including 8 North American and 12 U.S. premieres. The diverse lineups will be presented either virtually or through drive-in screenings. Selected films are from Japan, China, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Mongolia.
