James Abel “Jim” Treiber, son of Viola (Bower) Treiber and Louis H. Treiber, was born on April 30, 1936, in Danbury, Iowa. A farmer at heart, he had a profound appreciation for the value of people and hard work. Jim was active in music and sports during his high school years, graduating in 1954. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army. He served with distinction in the 801st Engineers and was stationed in England, France, and Germany, broadening his horizons yet always carrying a piece of home in his heart. The untimely passing of his father in 1962 saw Jim taking over the family farm. It was during this time, on September 26, 1964, that he married Janice Torgerson of Soldier, Iowa, beginning a partnership that would flourish over 59 years. In 1972, embracing a change, Jim joined Penn Corp Financial, where he embarked on a successful career selling insurance and investments. Two years later, in 1974, he accepted a position as district manager in Fargo, ND, moving his family t
