After a rare medical scare, tens of thousands of dollars are being donated to a recent University of New Hampshire graduate who loved ones and friends say is “constantly spreading positivity.”
Over $45,000 has been raised on GoFundMe for Sung-Ki Carty, a 2020 UNH graduate majoring in communication, after he was placed on a ventilator and underwent neurosurgery Monday to treat an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) near his brain stem.
According to Masaki Carty, Sung-Ki’s older brother, Sung-Ki had just arrived to work Monday morning when he told Masaki, who works at the same job as him, that he had a splitting headache. Assuming Sung-Ki was battling fatigue from riding his bike, the brothers went to work. Later in the morning, though, Sung-Ki revealed that the headache persisted and had spread down to his neck.
