After being closed last year, the Soo Locks Visitor’s Center in Sault Ste Marie is now open.
The Visitor Center, located inside the Soo Locks Canal Park, welcomes in 400,000 people in the six month season from mid-May to mid-Oct.
Inside, you can find out when the next freighter will pass through, read about the locks history, participate in hands-on exhibits and more.
There are changes, however, due to the on-going pandemic, including mask wearing and others.
“Because of COVID, we also made a lot of effort to spread out a lot of the exhibits,” said Chief Park Ranger Michelle Briggs. “We added hand sanitizer by some of the most hands-on exhibits to encourage people to clean up before and after, and avoid spreading any germs and viruses.:
