As Monday’s scheduled College Football Playoff championship game approaches, a social media post by DCH Health System officials appears to push for more restraints on social gatherings.
But Andy North, the vice president of marketing and communications for the local hospital and the author of the Facebook post in question, said Friday that his only intent was to clear up any appearance of mixed messages coming from DCH and City Hall.
And, by extension, North is asking the public to remain vigilant in fighting the spread of COVID-19.
“As DCH has asked for support that local leaders could provide it has been given,” North said, noting the contributions of supplies, offers for the use of external facilities, police support and paramedics, among others. “We appreciate all of those efforts.
Tuscaloosa-area municipal leaders discuss challenges of fighting COVID19 together
Tuscaloosa Mayor joins forces By Kelvin Reynolds | January 6, 2021 at 7:42 PM CST - Updated January 6 at 7:42 PM
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) - The city of Tuscaloosa was one the first Alabama cities to impose restrictions to protect people from coronavirus. Tuscaloosa’s mayor now says he wants more support from neighboring municipalities before taking similar actions in the future.
“Right now, each municipality is acting alone I guess you would say,” Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon said.
He says his city, Tuscaloosa, and Tuscaloosa County are each working to protect people from coronavirus, even if they aren’t doing some things together.

The businessman has long sought to make changes in the community. Some of his work began as one of the founders of Community Unity, grassroots organization which aimed to quell violence in the Tuscaloosa community by providing fun activities, gatherings, and parties. Collected funds went to aid various service projects.
He s hosted conferences and other events for the enrichment of men, food and toy giveaways during the holiday seasons while placing shoppers in quality, late-model vehicles. Lanier is also the owner of some rental properties.
This is but one of the many ways he s following in the footsteps of his father, the late Howard Lip Lanier, a former Tuscaloosa radio personality and community activist who also ran for a seat on the Tuscaloosa City Council.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC)- Demolition on part of the old McFarland mall started Tuesday. Construction workers tore down the Chill’s restaurant that was on part of the property.
Other than a new Chinese buffet restaurant and a Dollar Tree, that land is basically deserted. There have been talks for years between Tuscaloosa developer Stan Pate and the city about the revitalization of the mall. Councilwoman Sonya McKinstry and Pate, who owns the property, said there are plans to build a sports complex there.
