The Firehouse Theatre invites their audience to join them outdoors for a rousing rendition of “Cotton Patch Gospel” May 6-23. The joyful musical, directed by Joey Folsom with music direction by Sonny Franks, seems to be a great choice for their first outdoors production.
“Cotton Patch Gospel” also serves as the kickoff show for Firehouse Theatre’s 2021-22 season. The inspirational musical is filled with bluegrass, country, and toe-tapping gospel music that accentuates “the greatest story ever retold.”
David Moore, “Firehouse Theatre’s Executive Director, said, “We wanted our first show of the season to be about faith. Something special to lift our patrons’ spirits. And because we wanted our first show to be produced outdoors in our back lot, this musical seemed like the perfect opportunity.”

Firehouse Theatre in Farmers Branch this week announced its 2021 season during the Dream Big Virtual Gala on April 18, including plans to host performances at both indoor and outdoor venues this year.
The theater’s season of musical productions includes
Cotton Patch Gospel,
In the Heights,
Legally Blonde and
Elf The Musical!
The theater also announced more information about The Firehouse Theatre University, an expanded education initiative, led by Broadway’s Ashley Kate Adams that will include
Godspell JR as the Firehouse JR production this summer.
The 2021 season will be produced in accordance with the theater’s Risk Mitigation and Code of Conduct, based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and city and county health and public safety authorities.
Fundraising starts for Kewanee s newest mural featuring Walworth factory

Its official! The subject, the location, the time, the artists and potential fundraising for Kewanee’s 20th Walldog historical mural are set.
As previously announced, the subject will be the Walworth Manufacturing Company and its predecessors, which started very small in 1868 and reached huge proportions in the 1900s before coming to an end in Kewanee in 1978.
The location, according to Dianne Packee, the Walldog Mural Committee chairwoman, will be the east side of the City of Kewanee’s maintenance building located in the 500 block of North Main Street. The City Council gave its approval at a recent council meeting.
