Last week the Graham ISD Board of Trustees discussed plans regarding two bond propositions for a May 2024 bond election. The board is planning on calling a bond election during a meeting set for Wednesday, Nov. 1. GISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse said, if the board desired, he would like them to be in a position to call a bond election during a November meeting. The last date for the district to order the election will be Feb. 16, 2024.
Graham ISD advised parents and guardians this week of a policy change passed in the 88th Texas Legislature regarding e-cigarettes, vaping, marijuana and THC-related products. Students found in possession, under the influence, selling, gifting or delivering the substances will be placed in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP). House Bill 114 was signed Tuesday, June 13 by Gov. Greg Abbott which was related to the possession, use or delivery of marijuana or e-cigarettes on or near public school property or at certain school events.
Graham ISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse spoke this week with the GISD Board of Trustees regarding an armed security officer being required for each district campus under House Bill 3, which was signed Wednesday, June 14 by Gov. Greg Abbott. HB3 was approved Monday, May 29 by the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate and sent Tuesday, May 30 to the governor's office.
