“I was approached by a number of different book publishers over the last year to write an autobiography, but I felt it was too premature,” Ramla Ali says of her forthcoming debut book,
Not Without A Fight. So in lieu of the autobiography, which will no doubt follow at some point, Ali has compiled some life lessons we can all learn from. Her book recounts 10 key fights she has had to endure – both in and out of the ring – in the hope that her stories will help guide her readers towards becoming their own champion. It has “allowed me to utilise the challenges I’ve faced both in sport and life as tools to inspire other young Black girls not just to take up sport and be more health conscious, but to create something that can be used to motivate others in all aspects of life – from pursuing higher education to reaching career goals that seem unattainable because of how you look, or your background.”
