Song Guo Zheng, 58, has been sentenced to 37 months behind bars after pleading guilty in November to lying on applications to use roughly $4.1 million in NIH grants “to develop China’s expertise” in the medical fields, according to a Department of Justice news release earlier this month. Zheng must pay over $3.4 million in restitution to the NIH and an estimated $413,000 to The Ohio State University, according to the release.
