Local musician hosts online songwriting workshops/critique groups

Joel Daniel has been a fixture of the local music scene for more than a decade. Founder of the kindie rock band, The Hoots, he’s also writer, producer, director and actor in the “Hoot Quarters” video series, www.hootquarters.com. In addition to playing children’s music, he’s played in rock bands Shayna and the Bulldog, Small Dinosaurs and Contra.
In 2019, Daniel received a grant from the city of Davis. His project, the Davis Independent Music Initiative, was awarded $5,000 through the Community Arts Grant. With the money, Daniel will record an album of original music by next year.
