HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - More than a year after police arrested a Google Cloud manager for the death of his wife on the Big Island, an autopsy has proven the case was a homicide.
West Hawaii Today reported that detectives said âhomicidal violence of undetermined meansâ was the cause of 41-year-old Smriti Saxenaâs death.
She was visiting the islands from Washington with her husband.
In February last year, officers arrested her 43-year-old husband Sonam Saxena for murder, but he was later released pending investigation.

Smriti Saxena and her husband Sonam Saxena were vacationing on the Big Island in February 2020 to celebrate their eldest daughter's birthday, West Hawaii Today reported. Although an autopsy was conducted shortly after the 41-year-old woman's body was found on the southern shoreline.

Hawai‘i Island police are asking the public for any new information regarding the murder of Smriti Saxena, whose body was found on the southern shoreline of Anaehoʻomalu Bay on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. An autopsy revealed the manner of death as homicide and police are awaiting the analysis of evidence as the investigation continues.
On Tuesday, February 18, 2020, 43-year-old Sonam Saxena of Bellevue, Washington, reported his wife, 41-year-old Smriti Saxena, as a missing person.
On Wednesday, February 19, 2020, a female body was located along the shoreline. Detectives continued their investigation and were able to confirm that the body was that of Smriti Saxena. Later that day, Sonam Saxena was arrested on the count of murder in the second-degree and was later released from custody, after conferring with the prosecutors.

Smriti Saxena and her husband Sonam Saxena of Bellevue were vacationing to celebrate their daughter s birthday.
Sonam Saxena told West Hawaii Today at the time that his wife had an asthma attack while they were taking an evening beach walk and that when he returned with her inhaler, she was missing. Police discovered the body near ʻAnaehoʻomalu Bay in the district of South Kohala the morning of Feb. 19, 2020.
