Husband’s death results in lessons about loss, love during COVID pandemic [The Tribune (San Luis Obispo, Calif.)]
Dec. 17 The holiday season will never be quite the same for the Tanner family.
On Dec. 5, Husband Richard died peacefully at home of natural causes unrelated to COVID-19, surrounded by three family members and two caregivers. He died after having triumphed over health battles that spanned 22 years, a fight that got much more intense in the past seven years and especially the past eight months.
It’s never easy to lose a loved one, or to become a widow. But during the holiday season, with coronavirus restrictions keeping family and friends away, it became even harder.
destined by fate. let me explain. on september 11, 2001 victor seracini age 51 was the captain of united flight 175, the airplane that hijackers directed into the south tower of the world trade center. inside that building on the 84th floor, patrick mcgwire, age 40, was working at euro brokers incorporated. his plan could be evacuate had been interrupted by the announcement that the situation was under control. each man left behind a wife and children. the seracinis seen here had two. the mcgwires had four. last weekend in austin, texas, victor seracini s daughter brie yelle married patrick mcgwire s son sean. the meeting was hardly a coincidence. each was only 10 years old when they lost their fathers. they met two years later at camp
better days. that s a camp established to provide support for the children who lost a parent on 9/11. it was founded by amy callahan who lost her fiance that day. they were just kids hanging out together, playing pool and basketball, as brieelle said in their vows, they grew up together, shaping each other, learning from each other and grounding one another. sean is now a cpa, brieelle works for the yankees yes network and promotion. when it was offered as a wedding date, they seized it, #take back september. brieelle s sister was married in june, ellen their mother said she felt a great void not having 56 esche there to walk the girls down the aisle. brieelle told me they had a moment of silence in the ceremony to recognize their father s presence in their relationship and their lives.

benghazi. congressional sources tell fox news state department workers at the consulate made frantic distress calls during the attack, new though couldn t defend thenlsz and were pleading for their lives, pleading for backup. these new revelations make it even more clear that the americans in benghazi were not properly protected, despite being in one of the most dangerous places on earth. with me now, the mother of one of the americans who died that night, pat smith, whose son sean worked for the state department. pat, how are you this evening? oh, i m okay. all right, pat. it appears that the distress calls were from the consulate where your son sean was. has anyone from the administration spoken to you about these calls? no. they have thought. no one has ever gotten in touch with me ever. ever. all right. and, pat, you know, your son was the communications person.
