The lake was restored at a cost of Rs 23 crore. However, a few years down the line, the water body once again got contaminated due to the inflow of sewage.
The Bommenahalli Lake spreads across 38 acre and faces challenges from urbanisation, including the potential influx of construction waste, litter, weeds and the risk of domestic greywater infiltration.
Spread over 19 acres, the lake was restored by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore in 2008. The lake is presently under the custody of the civic body.
