Out-of-school children, everyone’s duty – HDI

The Executive Director of the Human Development Initiative, Mrs Olufunso Owasanoye, has said it is everyone’s duty to ensure that out-of-school children are given proper education.
She stated this at a two-day training workshop on monitoring basic education projects, themed, ‘One-Day Tracking Campaign’.
The event, organised for community members across Lagos State, was also attended by artisans and traders.
According to Owasanoye, the training is to sensitise residents and ensure that all children are educated.
“And to support this initiative, we decided to add artisans because they also live in the communities so that we can sensitise them to support in bringing these children to school. If you are a widow or less privileged in any way, we will give you scholarships on everything; yours is just to bring the child to class. (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Director-General Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, says 70 lockup shops have been destroyed by fire in Alade Market in Somolu
He added that goods worth millions of Naira were also damaged by the inferno.
According to him, the Agency received distress calls on Tuesday at 1.05 a.m. concerning the fire outbreak in Alade Market.
“We commenced fire suppression activities immediately we arrived at Somolu market and investigation revealed that the fire was likely from a voltage surge when power supply was restored.
“LASEMA fire fighters with the Lagos State and Federal Fire Services worked tirelessly to put out the inferno.”
