The City of Somerset Announces Their First Event of 2021

Somerset, KY, USA / WTLO 1480 AM/97.7 FM | Classic Hits Mar 8, 2021 2:14 PM In their first event of 2021, the City of Somerset and the Somerset Tourist & Convention Commission are taking downtown out into Pulaski County. The event, an open-air market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at Suits-Us Farm, is an effort to build tourism at home by showcasing all downtown has to offer to local residents. “We’ve always known our best ambassadors are our residents,” said Leslie Ikerd, City of Somerset tourism director. “But what we have learned in the past year during the COVID-19 pandemic is how important it is to support businesses, artists and musicians right here at home that fuel our local economy. With this event we’re uniquely focused on taking downtown outside of the city limits and promoting all we have to offer so that our residents will not only visit downtown but encourage others outside the county to do so as well.”

South Somerset TIC selected as finalists in Bath, Bristol and Somerset Tourism Awards

A TOURISM team in Somerset have been selected as finalists in the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2019-2020. South Somerset Tourist Information Centre (TIC) is in the final of the Visitor Information Service of the Year category - for the second year running. The centre, situated on the A303, offers advice on attractions, activities, accommodation and so on, and has a gift shop. “Announcing the finalists has been delayed many times due to Covid-19, but the wait has been worth it for such fantastic news, said Bev Stapp, the centre supervisor. After such a busy and successful year in 2019-2020 who could have envisaged what was in store for 2020-21, but the team are busy working behind the scenes to ensure the Information Centre and gift shop will be well stocked and poised to support visitors to the area as soon as the lockdown is lifted.”
